Video Services

Videos that University Communications is unable to produce can be outsourced through contracted vendors and must be funded entirely by the requesting unit. In the case of outsourcing, University Communications can provide the following services:

  • Consultation: This includes guidance in the vendor selection process and supplying creative feedback.
  • Brand Standards: This includes working with the vendor to ensure the work adheres to University standards and quality controls.

Video production vendors that are on contract have been vetted by the University and are in the billing system. These include:


Photography Resources

A robust selection of high-resolution images is available on UConn Media Share. Photographs are copyrighted by the University and may be used by UConn employees for official projects such as websites and brochures. Other uses may be permitted by request. Contact us at mediashare@uconn.edu.

Portraits and Headshots

Need a headshot for your department website? In an effort to keep UConn websites consistent and professional, University Communications offers free portrait photoshoots for all faculty and staff members. Photoshoot sessions are held in the Lakeside Building on the Storrs campus, across the street from the Chemistry Building. Sessions are by appointment only and typically last around five minutes.

Yes, the photos are specifically scaled to be used on flyers, in journal articles, and for the user’s icon on Microsoft 365.

No, photos must be taken in the Lakeside Building.

No, each person receives one processed photo from the shoot. Our photographer will review each photo taken with you at the photoshoot and allow you to choose your favorite image. If you don’t like the final processed photo, you are welcome to book another appointment.

It’s recommended to get a new headshot every four to five years.

No, the pose of the photo is set specifically to match other portraits taken at the University.

If there are no open appointments, we are experiencing an increased demand for photos. Please check back at a later date.

What are cookies?

Authentication Cookies

Authentication cookies are a special type of web cookie used to identify and verify a user after they log in to a website or web application.


What They Do:

Once you log in to a site, the server creates an authentication cookie and sends it to your browser. This cookie:

  • Proves to the website that you're logged in
  • Prevents you from having to log in again on every page you visit
  • Can persist across sessions if you select "Remember me"

What's Inside an Authentication cookie?

Typically, it contains:

  • A unique session ID (not your actual password)
  • Optional metadata (e.g., expiration time, security flags)
Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies are cookies used to collect data about how visitors interact with a website. Their primary purpose is to help website owners understand and improve user experience by analyzing things like:

What They Track:

Opt Out

Here's how you can disable cookies in common browsers:

  • Open Chrome and click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.

2. Mozilla Firefox

  • Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner.

3. Safari

  • Open Safari and click Safari in the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Go to Preferences > Privacy.

4. Microsoft Edge

  • Open Edge and click the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner.
  • Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > cookies and site permissions.
  • Select your cookie settings from there, including blocking all cookies or blocking third-party cookies.

5. On Mobile (iOS/Android)

  • For Safari on iOS: Go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security > Block All cookies.
  • For Chrome on Android: Open the app, tap the three dots, go to Settings > Privacy and security > cookies.
